Hi guys,
I know, I know.. I said – February will be the month when more things will come on the blog…well, we are in March now you know how it happens, you plan something, you announce it and then your life becomes so busy that it doesn’t give you any breathing space to work on it. Well, better later than never 🙂 -finally Honey Lemon Chai will be posting not only outfit ideas but also will focus on travel, reviews and lifestyle…
And we will start with travel. Precisely with my latest travel to United Arab Emirates…
As you remember I had booked this holiday as a birthday surprise for my partner. I’ll tell you what we did and what we saw during our 10 days there… And hopefully that will give you an idea of what you must see when visiting UAE. (This post is slightly longer than others so make yourself your favourite chai, sit back and enjoy the post 🙂 )
As soon as we landed, we rented a car to be able to get around places quicker. Also the main surprise for my partner was tickets to F1 race so we needed a comfy transport from Dubai to Abu Dhabi for at least 4 days. If you thinking of renting a car while traveling in Dubai it will cost you about £250/7days (depending on the car you choose).
The hotel we’ve stayed in was Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort. It is situated on the Jumeirah Beach, very close to the Dubai Marina. The views from the hotel room are amazing. The food is also good, serving different variety of food. If you choose this hotel for your stay, make sure you book a room with an access to Club Lounge where you can enjoy your meals with a view from top floor.
If you travel to UAE in the end of November and if you’re a Formula 1 fan, you must see the race. I must say the atmosphere during the race is amazing, it was our first time to see F1 live and there is no comparison with watching the race on TV… no way…seeing it live, the roar engines, the smell of petrol -that’s what gives the excitement. :))
The Yas Marina Circuit is a second Formula 1 track in the Middle East, it’s situated in Abu Dhabi on the Yas Island, about 30 minutes from the capital of the UAE. The circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke -German engineer, racing driver and circuit designer.
When you’re in Abu Dhabi for the F1 race, don’t forget to go to Yas Waterworld (well anyone can enter but F1 ticket holders can go for free), basically a water park with many crazy waterslides for everyone-adults and kids. I had so much fun in there I didn’t want to leave 😛 -such a kid :)) haha
Ferrari World…it is a fun place but personally I think it was mainly designed for children. I was expecting more of a place with many Ferraris in it – I don’t know why, it is an amusement park…I guess because of the name 😛 Well, apart from the cool structured building and the rollercoaster which have the highest loop in the world (and which I was too afraid to try) I didn’t find anything more interesting there.
What to see/ do when visiting Dubai:
Burj Khalifa. The tallest building in the world with a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft). It is so tall that you can see the sunset twice in the same evening, first from a low floor and then again from the top floor of Burj Khalifa.
The Dubai Fountain. Orchestrated fountain with a different music played every time and a very impressive choreography situated on Burj Khalifa Lake. The show starts every 30 minutes and is free. Make sure, you there reach earlier to secure the front place to see the show as it is very popular and always busy. If you want to miss the crowd and see the fountains from close, you can go for a boat ride for about £15, just make sure you have tissues with you because you will get so close you will definitely get little wet.
Palm Islands. Cool man made islands with a shape of a palm as the name suggest, where every holiday maker can find something for themselves, shopping malls, spas, fancy restaurants and bars. The Palm Islands are tourists attractions, however you really cannot see the shape and the beauty of the Island when you’re on the ground, unless you take a helicopter ride (I haven’t done it this time round, hopefully next time I’ll have enough time to go for the ride ;)) )
Madinat Jumeirah. When looking for place to eat with a nice view, visit Madinat Jumeirah which offers different restaurants, boat rides and view on the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel.
Desert Safari Dubai. There are many tours you can find online to Dubai’s Desert. Each one of them offer different attractions so you have plenty to choose from. I’ve picked the evening tour because I wanted to enjoy the sunset, however morning or even overnight tours are available too. You can enjoy activities like: dune bashing, quad bike, camel riding, fire shows, henna painting, dance shows, etc. <do not play with fire at home ;))>
There is so much more UAE has to offer, I must say 10 days (actually only 6 as 4 days we spent on the Yas Marina Circuit) is definitely NOT enough to see and do all of it. I will for sure go there again. I have to, I promised myself I have to go for the helicopter ride 😉
Guys I hope you enjoyed the post. I did enjoy sharing with you my travel review…
Leave a comment and see you on Thursday with another outfit idea :))
Love,
Basia. xx

Hi, awesome post and guide about Dubai.
I have visited a few places you mentioned in your guide. Those are really amazing and I wish to visit other places as well. As I am planning a visit to Dubai this October with my wife. So, I am reading a lot of about UAE and also making a list of places, food, shopping center, etc. Last year I used online portal for shopping, booking, etc because it was an official trip and I had no time to see more. But this time I’ll book everything like flights, hotel, event tickets, etc online with the help of https://www.0007.ae/ they are providing me exclusive deals for UAE as I did some writing for them.
This guide is really helpful for me and following it.
